Aluminium in construction- applications
Aluminium in construction. While aluminum is typically not as strong as other metals like for example stainless steel, it has excellent weight to strength ratio, which is almost one third of its weight. This is the main reason why aircraft are made from aluminum. This material is also becoming more popular in the auto industry to improve fuel efficiency.
There would be no skyscrapers without aluminum.
What about aluminium in construction and it’s application? In Greenwich Wharf application of aluminum structural tophats instead of steel ones allowed lowering the weigh, but provided equivalent construction strength. It is excellent example of precised construction calculations and efficient material application.
